I grew up with something called Hawaian Toast. It's pretty much the same only open faced. Toast, ham, pineapple with a slice of cheese on top which then gets put in the oven to melt. Delicious and what a throw back to my childhood :o)
That's genius, Rocquie! You could add a thin layer of tomato sauce, maybe between the cheese and the pineapple so the bread doesn't get soggy, and you'd have a Hawaiian pizza sandwich!
The next time you grill a ham and cheese sandwich, try adding a couple slices of pineapple. Tastes great!
